Plants in home

Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service

With cooler temperatures settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any sunshine, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That spreads far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your furnace is running at its best.

Here are a few that we find especially helpful here in Napoleon and Northwest Ohio:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean quite a bit of air is escaping your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside as well. There are a host of choices that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty easy fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Change your furnace filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s usually recommended to swap your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some can last even longer.
  • Add plants. Indoor plants can provide a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they can potentially improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of pollutants that are emitted from a variety of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to receive a reminder. Having furnace service done annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 419-592-4756 or set up an appointment online to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
